To our knowledge, there is no loan or open access repository of articles related to this research area. The authors supplied a quote list of all the articles referenced in this manuscript but had no record of where they were deposited. We checked the Journal of Women’s Health, which published this research but was unable to identify where the articles referred to here were deposited in a larger public repository. A similar quest to identify the location of the manuscript with the gold standard of footnote references in Tables and Figures, revealed a paucity of them. Renaissance essays were published between 1510 and 1528 (see the reference list in the appendix), which may provide more insights into the nature of the research most highly viewed by the readers because there are fewer restrictions on copying and distribution of Renaissance essays than for TRs. We found 7 articles referencing Renaissance essays, including 1 that repeated previous findings that the relative risk of dying from cardiac arrest is six times higher in women than men and 2 that examined whether the risk of vaginal birth after cesarean delivery is higher among teenagers than women previously pregnant and having vaginal deliveries.
The following 5 articles were viewed more than 1000 times (1,205 [32.31], 1,295 [3.74], 2,976 [10.38], 2,470 [6.17], 2,172 [5.12]). This was largely in part due to being the first TR on YouTube and the authors’ being present at the time. Most of these articles were viewed over a short period of time and the authors have recommenced publishing in early 2016. The only article that was not viewed during the study period was on an unplanned cesarean in a student midwife [18]. The authors intended to evaluate the immediate outcomes (pain, infection, and bleeding) of a planned primary cesarean (elective) versus a planned instrumental or emergency cesarean (non-elective). Unfortunately, the data were inadequate, which necessitated a modification of the protocol on August 2016. d2c66b5586
