The Saxons were clearly the better side and it was their turn to push for dominance in the north. Unfortunately, they needed to cross a river that was full of Frisian warships and they were attacked by the Frisians on their ships. The Saxons were forced to change their methods of transportation and attack and the final battle of the campaign would be at the Battle of Verden. Again, the Saxons had the upper hand in numbers and better naval skill, but the odds were against them.
